Pepe the Frog with Lock

About PepeRansom

PepeRansom is a meme-inspired ransomware project that combines the infamous Pepe the Frog with malware education. When your files get encrypted, you'll definitely feel bad man.

How It Works

When executed, PepeRansom encrypts your files and shows you a very sad Pepe. The only way to get your files back is to pay the ransom in rare Pepes.

Payment must be in rare Pepes (any rare Pepe will do). Pepe doesn't care about your normie currency, he just wants to expand his rare Pepe collection. The rarer the Pepe, the faster you'll get your files back.

In a real scenario, attackers would implement C&C servers on Tor (because nobody wants the FBI showing up with rare Pepes and arrest warrants). This demo version is offline-only, like a sad Pepe with no friends.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Don't click on suspicious rare Pepe collections
  • Keep your meme folder backed up
  • Use antivirus (even Windows Defender is pretty based nowadays)
  • Don't download files named "ultra_rare_pepe_collection_no_virus.exe"
  • Check everything with VirusTotal before you get BTFO

Kill Switch

If PepeRansom ever gets out of control, it can be stopped by offering these extremely rare Pepes. These are the rarest of rare Pepes, handle with care.

Andreas M. PEPENOPOULOS - Rare Pepe Card
PEPE BUGGED - Extremely Rare Pepe Card

WARNING: These Pepes are so rare that merely possessing them might attract unwanted attention from rare Pepe collectors and federal agents alike. Use only in case of extreme emergency.
